Back2Back

Congratulations are in order to the University of CONNECTICUT (UCONN) Huskies Women's basketball team for winning their second National Championship last night over the Stanford Cardinal and finishing the year 39-0 for the second straight year for a total of 78 wins in a row and counting. The lady Huskies trailed 20-12 at halftime after missing 16 shots in a row and tying their school record for the lowest points in a half. I wonder if they decided amongst themselves before the game started and said something like "Let's see how many shots we can miss and how poorly we can play on the offensive side of the game and give Stanford the feeling that they can beat us. Then, in the second half of the game let's go ahead and play like we usually do and win the game and championship." That is what happened but I don't know if they did plan the game that way or they just took a while to settle down. For all their lack of an offense in the first half by UCONN; Stanford only scored 20 total points themselves as a team so the Cardinal failed to capitalize on the CONNECTICUT scoring drought. All Americans Maya Moore and Tina Charles woke up in the second half along with the rest of the LADY HUSKIES and as they say "The rest is History" and another Connecticut victory. Yes, victory 78 was great and victory 79 will be fine as the UCONN women's basketball team continues to smash their own previous record of only 70 victories in a row.
